Information about Nuria
I am a Spanish teacher with a passion for teaching my native tongue. I am originally from Spain, although have lived overseas for the past 10 years. I moved to England in 2011 to improve my English moving to Kenya in 2016.
My first career was as a travel agent, but I retrained as a Spanish teacher when we moved to Kenya.Upon moving to Kenya, I completed a masters in `How to teach Spanish as a foreign language` and started my new career as a Spanish teacher, first building up a network of private tutees ranging from employees of the Red Cross to the Hungarian ambassador, before finding work in some of Kenya`s top international schools. Changing career to become a teacher has been my best decision to date. I feel like I`ve truly found what I`m good at and what I enjoy.
Willing to travel: 2 miles
Experience: I have over 5 years of teaching experience at leading international schools. Most recently I was the IB and IGCSE Spanish teacher at Braeburn Garden Estate (BGE) in Kenya where my students received outstanding results with over 70% of my IGCSE class receiving A* and all of my IB class receiving one grade higher than predicted at the start of the course. I was the Year 11 form tutor and was rated as an outstanding performer during external inspections.
Prior to BGE, I was the Spanish teacher at Kenton College Kenyas leading prep school where I prepared children for the Common Entrance examinations. I also held supply teaching positions at the International School of Kenya (ISK) and the Lycee Francais in Nairobi, as well as developing a diverse private tutoring base. I was the secretary of the Spanish Teachers Association of Kenya.
