Information about Yokey

Working with learners has been a very rewarding experience for me. I have taught KS2 to KS3to include learners of all background and abilities. In my career I have taught several subjects at both KS2 and KS3. The subjects taught include Health and Social Care, Food and Nutrition, Child Development and Food Technology. In each subject area I prepared pupils for GCSE exam preparations and I have yielded good to outstanding examinations results from A* to C. I currently work with profound and severe leaners. I find that to be quite rewarding as researched strategies are used to support our learners to have independence in their community. Being part of a learners progress and development is quite enriching and rewarding.

Experience: I have worked both in mainstream and special needs education. I have found both to be a challenge and a reward. I have taught, initially in the Caribbean for approximately ten years. I covered a range of subjects and areas from primary education to Home Economic. I taught Food and Nutrition and Clothing and Textiles at CXC level (what is equivalent to GCSE`s in the UK).
in the UK I have taught Design Technology and Food Technology at Easthampstead Park School. I then moved on to Holy Trinity Media Arts College where Taught for approximately seven years. There I taught Health and Social Care, Child Development, Food and Nutrition and Food Technology from KS2 to KS3 level. I then moved on to Calthorpe Academy where I took up the role of Specialist teacher in Food Technology. This is where I specialised in teaching special needs learners Food Technology. I taught learners at KS2, KS3 through to six form learners. I train staff across the school in hygiene and safety in food handling with certification. I support staff in teaching and handling food in their sensory lessons and cooking lessons and general food handling for learners.
