Information about Baljeet

I am an experienced English tutor and qualified teacher, GCSE examiner, and former Lead Practitioner, with 15+ years of teaching English Language & Literature across KS3, KS4, and KS5. I have a 2.1 English degree from a Russell Group University; PGCE and a nationally recognised qualification in Leading Teaching.

As a parent myself, I know the challenges of finding a suitable school, choosing a tutor and how to decide (!), reading books and educational resources. Please be assured, many, many students find English confusing. Hopefully, I can help!

-I offer online tuition to provide flexibility and convenience for the student and family.
-I work with a range of abilities. Students can be struggling, confused, confident, need help with perceptive responses (top of mark scheme), unmotivated. I can teach how to read from scratch.
-I offer bespoke intensive sessions during weekends for exam preparation.
-I am available during the day for students who are home-schooled, international or have any other circumstances. Please message me for more information on timings.

Willing to travel: Home Only

Experience: Since each student has their own needs, lessons vary in nature but typically, for GCSE students in year 10 and 11, I help by:
- using my knowledge as an examiner to give targeted support. I keep up to date with knowledge about the examination process. Changes have been made this year to AQA English language GCSE and will impact any year 10 students.
- help with revision.
- Identify gaps in knowledge - using my experience of student misconceptions, struggles and challenges. I tailor support to a student’s specific needs in line with the exams.

Online & 1:1 GCSE & A-Level English tuition: flexible availability weekdays & weekends

Intensive revision & exam preparation slots: available for students taking GCSE English Language summer 2026 exams

Day-time sessions over May half-term & during study leave: structured exam practice sessions available

Home-schooled & international students welcome: tailored English tuition during the day

- respond to questions and comments from students.
- helping students with assessments and mocks completed in school to understand their marks and how to make progress.
- give ideas about writing the narrative/descri ptive writing, and how to write non-fiction writing (both questions that appear in the GCSE exams).
- help with time management.

I help younger students in primary school by:
- teaching reading from scratch (use of phonics and spellings)
-improving reading skills/ reading comprehension
- using evidence-backed research methods to support learning through various methods encouraging memory, inference, reading comprehension and writing skills.
- advising on the best literature to read.
- helping them with the technical aspects of English: spelling, punctuation, grammar
- Helping with creative writing.
- Building vocabulary.

For all students I help by:
- working with their current knowledge and level. I have worked with thousands of students. I have the experience and knowledge to know how to improve grades whatever a student’s current level is.
- listening to their experiences and any challenges and struggles with the subject.
- supporting SEN students with reading and writing.
- supporting and providing feedback to parents.
