Information about Winsome

I have previously worked as a Tutor, tutoring primary (up to year 6) and secondary (Year 7,8 and 9)students. As an additional input for students, I am willing to undertake homework activities and school projects as well. My specific subject areas are Mathematics, English, History, Geography, foundation Biology and Health Science.
Having spent many years experience in the education of students, in a school setting, seeing how excited they get when they have achieved their goal is important to me. It is also important to me when tutor students and families develop a positive approach to the learning environment. Making learning fun.

Availability: Available from January 1st 2024.
Weekends and week days available, except for Sundays

Willing to travel: 12 miles

Experience: A qualified primary school teacher, recently retired, with over 20 years experience.
Through my training and experiences I have acquired good knowledge, understanding and have learnt to be aware of how students learn is affected by their physical, intellectual, emotional and social development and environment. I am sympathetic to their needs, and in so doing provide learning opportunities for all students by responding to their diverse needs. For example: setting clear guidelines for their learning, which builds on prior and previous learning.
An experienced teacher with personal and professional integrity, good self-confidence and the ability to maintain confidentiality. Maintaining a positive, purposeful working atmosphere is important to me.
As a tutor my aim is to encourage positive attitudes, mutual respect, independence and enthusiastic involvement in learning, ensuring that all students achieve high standards in their learning. Students are valued. My ability to create stimulating lessons with clear structure, maintaining pace and motivation during tutoring sessions is beneficial for the student.
I have experience of how to involve parents/carer in their student’s learning by working in partnership with them. This is carried out through discussions, with time shared for evaluation and review of students progress. This is established so that they are able to make good progress in their acquisition of knowledge, skills and understanding.
