Information about Patrick

Hello!

My name is Patrick. I am a student at Trinity College Oxford, studying for a BA in French. I have lived much of my life in France, working and studying between Lyon and the French Alps. Before Oxford I was at Leeds studying Economics. I love travelling and have explored places as far a field as Central America and North Korea. I am an ambitious individual with bags of creativity and ample teaching experience.

I offer: Oxford interview training & French literature/language.

Willing to travel: 20 miles

Experience: At the behest of my A-level French teacher at the Skinners` School, Tunbridge Wells in Kent, I tutored GCSE students in French during my lunch times. During these two years I also taught children in English and Maths between the ages of 9-13 twice a week at the Kumon Centre in Rusthall, Kent, along with private one-on-one tutoring for a GCSE student. Working with this particular student, we were able to increase his grade by three grade boundaries.

When living and studying in France between the ages of 10-16, I secured a job on a summer holiday camp for disaffected Parisian children where I taught and led hikes in the mountains.

Over my life I have gained much experience organising lesson plans, liaising with parents and maximising students` potential. I have found that the `why` behind the pupil doing something is just as important - if not more - than the how. With this in mind I aim to inspire students to enjoy what they are doing, thereby compelling them to work independently, which, in my view, is the single best way of improving.

Additionally, if the student is receptive, it is enjoyable to recommend books, articles and other pieces of literature that will serve as a springboard to achieving those top marks as well as preparing them for university/college work.
