Information about Helen
Hello, I am a graduate from University College London and University of the Arts London. After completing my BA (Hons) in English Language and Literature at UCL in 2012, I went on to Drama Centre London (UAL) to study for an MA in Acting. I have been tutoring since I completed my masters in 2013, teaching students from KS1 through to undergraduate level as well as offering support with English as an additional language to adult learners, alongside working as an actor, drama teacher and workshop leader.
I combine my knowledge of literature with my passion for the performing arts to bring texts to life and encourage students to engage with novels, plays and poems in a creative way. I adopt a methodical approach to analysing language, thereby equipping students with a system which they can apply to both their Language and Literature examinations in order to help them work efficiently under time pressure and to structure their essays with clarity.
`The best moments in reading are when you come across something a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things which you had thought special and particular to you. Now here it is, set down by someone else, a person you have never met, someone even who is long dead. And it is as if a hand has come out and taken yours.`
Alan Bennett, The History Boys
