Information about Sagana
This job as a tutor requires me to have excellent communication and relationship skills; knowledge, analytical skills, planning and organizational skills. Throughout my years as a tutor, I have gained various skills that are required for this job and through this job I hope to demonstrate my skills and enhance them further.
I have been a tutor since I was 16. I am currently working as a GP registrar. My passion for teaching is the reason I do this as an extra.
I achieved A* for all my GCSE and 2A* (Bio, chemo) and 2A (French, maths) for my A levels.
I have a large range of teaching experience from very young to adult. I enjoy teaching and am considered to have a caring approach and I try to make sure that learning takes place in a relaxed but studious situation.
I always have the highest expectations of pupils and always have had, a "pupils centred approach that I have found to pay rich dividends in terms of a pupil`s academic and personal development.
Availability: In the evenings ( preferably not weekends)
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: While at school (in year 12 and 13) I ran a GCSE science club for 20 students by myself where I used to prepare resources in order to tackle challenging topics in their syllabus (GCSE specification) and help the students overcome their challenges. Impressed by my ability to teach students and relate to their challenges, the school then employed me as year 12/13 biology and chemistry tutor for the summer term. My goal was to make sure my students were able to achieve their target grades. In order to help them, I had to prepare resources targeting my student`s challenges, mark past papers (for the year group), prepare power points for lessons and present them to classes of around 25 students. Out of the 20 students I thought, 13 achieved their target grade and the other 7 achieve beyond their target grade. I have also been a private tutor from home for the past 4 years for the following subjects: French, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology at GCSE and A- level standard. I was born in France and lived there for 13 years. I can fluently read, write and speak French. I understand how the prospect of learning a new language can be daunting to some students and I aim to try and make that learning transition seem easier and more fun! I am willing to help with coursework as well. I completed my French GCSE in year and achieved an A* ( 98%), an A at AS level (97%) and A at A level (90%).
Since the last two years, I have started teaching students English and Mathematics at KS1 and KS2 level. When teaching children, I had to adapt my approach of teaching. I had to ensure that my lessons were more interactive and that I was using props and gadgets to make the lessons more engaging and interesting. I also had to adapt my voice tone in order to appeal to my pupils and put them at ease.
As a tutor, I am known amongst my students as someone who is friendly and approachable but also firm, and strict when needed be.
