Information about Katherine
Hello, my name is Katherine. I teach Biology and Chemistry (including GCSE, IGCSE, AS, A Level, IB SL, IB HL). My main goal is to enable students to feel comfortable and safe to learn.
I read a Biochemistry degree at King`s College London, followed by a year`s research in human molecular genetics at Imperial College London. My work has overlapped between health and education. I worked in the NHS for 12 years, and as a chiropractor for 18 years (including 3 years as a practical tutor). As well as tutoring Biology and Chemistry since 2008, I was an examiner for 5 years.
Hobbies include dancing, yoga, music, swimming, writing and cooking.
Availability: My timetable undergoes seasonal changes, and is rather full at the moment as I am teaching Summer schools.
I update my available hours as soon as any changes occur.
Tuition offered is either online or at my home.

Experience: I have worked as a tutor since 2008, both privat and for various tutorial colleges in Oxford. This is usually one-to-one or for small groups.
Originally I taught Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Psychology for about 3 years, focusing sol on Chemistry and Biology after that. This means I can deliver the highest standard of teaching for students. My former job as an examiner allows me to provide specific guidance regarding exam technique.
I love supporting students to reach their best potential.

My daughter has A ‘level biology lessons with Katherine on a weekly basis. She finds Katherine to be incredibly engaging through the clarity of her explanations and real-world examples that my daughter can relate to. This has helped her to visualise abstract concepts and make progress in her understanding of key areas of the syllabus. Katherine’s flexible and empathetic approach based on dialogue is a further strength. My daughter feels she can raise questions and request to focus on areas she feels she needs further support with. Lessons have a good balance of content knowledge and application with opportunity to work on past papers. I will highly recommend Katherine as a teacher.
