I am a highly qualified and currently practicing Biology teacher (Head of Biology), having working at an outstanding grammar School. I have been teaching for over 11 years.
I was also previously Head of Biology at a private international School in the Middle East.
I hold a 1st class integrated honours degree in Biological Sciences from The University of Warwick (MBio). I also hold a PgDipEd (PGCE) with QTS in Secondary Science from The University of Birmingham.
I am also a GCSE Science examiner and A-level Biology examiner and examine/assess on an annual basis for three of the major examination boards.
Coupled with my extensive teaching experience in top performing Schools, means that I am able to enhance the tutoring provision that I offer.
I focus on concise explanations, tailored to the language and specifics of various different examination boards, I have taught multiple examination boards, most notably would be AQA, OCR and Edexcel. I have also taught IALs.
I provide guided opportunities for practice at past examination questions, which I structure gradually in order to build a students confidence in the subject and to identify any misconceptions or common errors. I set homework (prior learning) in order to consolidate any new knowledge and understanding. I am also available to help students and respond swiftly

Experience: I have been tutoring for over 11 years (have been on other tutoring platforms e.g. Tutorfair, First tutors).
In my experience, students find accessibility and interpretation of questions being the main barrier to examination success. To overcome this, I focus on embedding effective examination technique through practice examination questions but also getting students to understand the thought processes that goes behind answering examination questions. I model this regularly.
I also provide appropriate work for students to complete after tutoring and can respond to enquiries / questions that tutees may have as well, usually very promptly.
