Information about Tasnia
My name is Tasnia and I am a 33 year old teacher living in London. Having grown up in this diverse city, I have been exposed to learners from numerous backgrounds, ethnicities and abilities. I have taught GCSE English for over 10 years now, both as a Secondary/College teacher and as a private tutor. My specialism lies in English Language, but I am also able to teach Functional skills, spoken English as well as English literature if needed. I have also successfully completed an English degree, which has taught me to write clearly and communicate effectively. My deep passion for English language and literature allows me to approach teaching with enthusiasm and gusto. I nurture my learners intellects with a positive attitude at all times.
I aim to create a positive atmosphere for learning at all times. I believe that we learn through first hand experiences and stimulating environments that make learning personal and relevant to the learner. I achieve this by effective and targeted planning, directed questioning, positive behaviour management, intervention, personalised formative feedback, continual development of resources and researching alternative ways of successful teaching and learning. I try to make my lessons as fun and creative as I possibly can by varying tasks and using realia, ICT and art to stimulate my learners. Currently, due to the pandemic, I am teaching all lessons online, but would be willing to teach face-to-face if nearby.
Availability: I am available flexible and open to work around my learner`s requirements.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: From my past experiences in various teaching environments, it can be ensured that I would be able to manage work effectively, give constructive feedback and adopt a professional yet friendly attitude. I have successfully taught English to second-language learners, resit learners as well as adult learners. I enjoy working with young people as they can be dynamic, curious and thoughtful individuals. They present challenges to teachers, and their energy and outside-of-the-box thinking inspires me all the time. Adult learners, on the other hand, can be intensely enthusiastic and hold a deep desire to reach what is just beyond their grasp. As a teacher, it is important to tap into the curiosities of all learners and create a literary playground for them to explore the unknown.
