I have been tutoring AQA English GCSE within a college for the last two years, working on both exam technique and language skills alike. I usually use a short diagnostic writing task, so that I can get to know a student’s interests, strengths, weaknesses and learning style. It is important to me that the student feels as though they are in control of the sessions, giving them the opportunity to take the reins on their learning.
