I am educated to Masters level and hold an Oxford undergraduate degree in English Language & Literature. I have tutored KS3, GCSE, A-Level, and Undergraduate English for 10 years, also providing support with UCAS applications and personal statements. In particular, I provide help with Oxbridge applications and interview preparation. I cover a range of areas, including help with coursework, and with specific course texts. I have extensive exam preparation experience and have had an excellent degree of success in improving students` grades, sometimes by several grade boundaries. To my great joy, the vast majority of my students have gone on to achieve A and A* grades at GCSE and A-Level.

I find that it`s usually a good idea to discuss the focus and aims of the tutorials before they actually begin. I like to try and make English as accessible as possible for students, at the same time as being flexible with teaching approaches and injecting fun and relevancy into the subject. I frequently find that instigating discussion encourages students to become more confident in forming their own opinions and to see things with fresher eyes.
