Information about Thomas
I am a fourth-year physics postgraduate student at Durham University, having achieved a first class honours masters degree in physics from the University of Warwick. At A-Level I achieved exceptionally high marks in Physics (98%, A*), Maths (99%, A*) and Further Maths (>90%, A*). I am passionate about education and love helping others achieve their full potential.
Availability: In general, I am available weekends and weekday evenings. At the moment I have limited availability due to other tutees, but do please get in touch and we can see if we can arrange something!
Willing to travel: 30 miles
Experience: I have been a personal tutor for four years, and taught at university for the same length of time. I have helped multiple students achieve their target grades at both A-level and university level. A particular highlight includes physics and maths tuition whilst volunteering in Uganda. As an experienced musician and conductor, I regularly teach others.
Tutoring is most effective when it is student-led, which is why I always ask my students what they want to work on, and use that as a basis for the study. I aim to teach the content, allowing the student to ask as many questions as they like, then give the student a chance to work through some problems, tackling the subject, and proving to themselves how much they have progressed. Using the syllabus for the required exam is an excellent way to check confidence in all areas.
