Information about Martha
I have always loved reading and learning languages, and completed a BA in English Literature & French before deciding to study an MA in Translation & Interpreting. I love travelling and my time spent abroad has given me a real appreciation of the challenges involved in learning a foreign language and how to overcome them. I really enjoy teaching and finding fun and creative ways to help my students learn and engage with their studies.
Availability: Flexible - please get in touch with preferred times/days.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I currently provide GCSE English Literature and French tuition, as well as preparatory classes for the 11+ and other entrance examinations. I have been tutoring for the last four years and have 300+ hours of experience in individual tuition.
I have spent the last four summers working in a British secondary school, and am familiar with national curriculum requirements, as well as different exam boards for English Literature and French at GCSE and A Level. I understand the key skills that are needed to achieve the top grades in these subjects, and have tried and tested strategies to help my students develop and hone their skills.
I also have a TEFL (Teaching English as Foreign Language) certificate and spent two years teaching students of all ages and abilities in schools and businesses in France and Spain. I have worked in language summer schools for French and Spanish students, and ran activity-based English classes for primary school children in Madrid.
