Hello Everyone!
My name is Anita, I am an English American citizen, my mother American, and my father English, born in the Philippines. My home in the UK is Bristol, an amazing city in the South West, known for its Art, Culture, History and beautiful Scenery. I am a friendly, energetic, and enthusiastic person. I enjoy art, travel, scuba diving, marine conservation, adventure, new experiences, and people.
I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree, Postgraduate Diploma’s in Teaching, Professional Practice in Education, Arts and Therapy and Education, and an MSc in Sustainability and Adaptation, I love to learn!
I have a CELTA, (Certificate in Teaching English to Adults) Teaching qualification and have QTS, (Qualified Teacher Status) Secondary Education in the UK. I have been teaching since 2003, across many education sectors and settings. From mainstream schools, special education, alternative education provision, International schools, and 1;1 tuition, from age 3 to 75 years old with learners from all over the world!
I was an arts education specialist for many years, helping students find and develop their creative passion, skills, and confidence to achieving a 90% + A-C pass rate in GCSE and A level Art and Design. I am a professional illustrator and artist and sell my work online and in artisan markets, stores, and exhibitions so I know the challenges of creative development and how to overcome them.
I am particularly skilled in identifying students’ strengths and working to them, not against them, breaking down the curriculum so that students can understand the development and enjoy the creative evolution of project development. I am skilled at working with students to develop their presentation skills so they can enjoy developing their own sense of self-esteem and personal achievement. Whilst allowing their work to be easily assessed to reach the best levels of attainment and to be easily understood and recognized by markers/examiners.
The skills outlined above extend into all subjects, I am trained in the therapeutic application of arts in education and life coaching. This is very helpful to engage a variety of learners in different ways. Identifying and setting personalized goals is an added advantage of tutoring that serves the students to their unique advantage.
Having had 17 years’ teaching experience in many different schools, from primary to secondary, special, and International. I have taught many subjects over the years, both 1:1 and classes. These include Phonics, P-level, KS1-5 English, Maths, Science, Humanities, Citizenship, PHSE, Design Technology, Photography, and Art and Design.
I am now focusing my passion for teaching and learning on online education, I have 3 years of experience teaching and tutoring online through various online platforms, it works brilliantly for me. I love the 1:1 and small group interaction, and the freedom to extend materials using online whiteboards and digital classroom technology.
I have my own private office with a stable internet connection that enables me to work in a professional environment and an uninterrupted space. I have been in the teaching profession for many years, I thoroughly enjoy working with learners of all ages, and facilitating a welcoming, friendly, supportive, and nurturing teaching space. Online teaching has been the latest stage in my career in education, which I am keen to expand in my ongoing professional development.
I am specialized in student-centered learning, finding the interests and learning styles that best suit the individual. We all have special skills and areas we find challenging, we can all find ways to overcome and thrive in our own development. My passion is to enable students to achieve what they never thought possible and to enjoy the journey of learning.
