Daniel

I am a Chinese Studies student at Durham University currently partaking in an online year abroad with Peking University. I have written research projects on political ideology in modern China, causes of the technology boom in Japan, and foreign policy in Tsarist Russia.

I graduated from Kings College School in 2018 and achieved 36/45 in my IB diploma programme. I scored a 7 in Higher Level History gaining extensive knowledge of the following historical periods:
- Unification of Italy
- Unification of Germany
- Germany 1900-1949
- Italy and Spain 1919-1939
- Russia 1861-1924
- The Cold War
- Modern China
I also wrote an Extended Essay on the foreign policy of Tsar Alexander I and gained an A grade.

I am fluent in English and Russian and hold a conversational level in Mandarin.

Experience: I taught entry-level Mandarin Chinese to year 9 girls at Ricard`s Lodge School once a week for the duration of one year. The pupils had no previous experience of Chinese and by the end of the year they developed a basic conversational level.

I have also taught English as a foreign language to children at Shanghai Pudong Kindergarten in China for a month. I introduced interactive teaching methods into the classroom and significantly improved my pupils` vocabulary and grammar.
