My name is Richard and I am 25 years old, I grew up in Buckinghamshire located just outside of London. I went on to graduate from the University of Leeds with a 1st in Mathematics and Finance. I’ve been tutoring Maths to students for over 8 years having delivered thousands of lessons, working as a private tutor since 2012. I tutor Maths to a variety of ages from 8+ all the way through to GCSE and A Level in which I cover exam boards such as Edexcel, AQA and OCR.

As a private tutor, I look to diagnose where the student lacks understanding or has mis-conceptions that are preventing them from progress. Then I fill these gaps with the correct knowledge through examples and carefully selected practice until they have strong procedural fluency and topic specific knowledge. I can then expose them to more complex problems and past paper material which they are now ready to thrive in. I carefully select practice questions for students to ensure they feel success in a given topic to boost their confidence and motivation whilst making sure students are thinking hard about the topic. I also make use of memory techniques to maximise a students learning. It is important for me to use a variety of different teaching modalities such as visual or interactive to match a students learning style to absorb the most material. Seeing students have success in Maths and getting them their desired grades through my carefully planned lessons motivates me as a tutor. I truly believe that any student with the right time and guidance can go on to achieve excellent maths grades, despite the perceived ability about Maths.

Experience: Private Tutor (2011-Present Day): Provided private tuition for a couple of years across London from ages varying from 8+ through to GCSE and A Level, working with different exam boards such as Edexcel, AQA, OCR.

Sustained a growing tutoring business from 2011-2016 assisting GCSE and A-Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics, aiding clients to achieve top grades in a variety of exam boards. This took place in my local area of Buckinghamshire.

PAL Maths Mentoring Scheme (2016-2019): I participated in the University of Leeds mathematics tutoring scheme teaching fellow students from all year groups mathematics at undergraduate level. I prepared lessons and helped other students achieve their desired grades in assessments and deepened their understanding across many modules.
