Information about Louise
I have been a successful English and English Literature teacher for over 20 years, teaching up to and including A Level, and all through the ability range. I have taught in all boys` schools, all girls` schools and mixed schools. I have been a Head of Department and also held several other positions in schools throughout my career. I have recently been an exam marker for both GCSE and A Level so I know what exam boards are looking for. Overall, I am patient, kind and flexible which, to my mind, are probably the most important attributes!
Availability: Various times on Monday to Thursdays and Saturdays.

Experience: I have been an English Head of Department as well as having various other roles in schools.
I have taught all secondary classes from Y7 to A Level and I have taught several different exam boards.
I have an excellent knowledge of the subject and what the exams boards are looking for in students` answers. I like to engage my students through different activities and a busy pace so that they remain motivated. I am always friendly and encouraging, believing strongly in praise. I have taught several different syllabi including AQA, OCR and Edexcel including iGCSE as well as being an exam marker. I set and mark homework when required and am always happy to liaise closely with parents, giving frequent feedback. Overall, I have many years` experience and knowledge of the syllabi and the curriculum which will undoubtedly help your child.

Louise has been great with my son - providing him with tips and advice on how to approach his GCSE exams, giving him achievable tasks to complete between sessions and building up his confidence that he can achieve the results that he needs. My son has had English tutors previously, but Louise is the first tutor he has had who has been able to provide him with advice that he has been able to action. The results are evident in the past papers that he has been working through. If he performs to the level he is now capable of he should have increased by at least one grade from before he started having sessions with Louise, which is great progress over a few months. Louise has been very flexible in finding space for sessions and let’s me know when she has free time in case we want to have any extra sessions.

Louise`s tutoring has been hugely beneficial to my 15 year old son who is preparing to sit his English GCSE. He feels more confident and equipped with the necessary skills to succeed - there is no doubt this has been down to Louise`s caring and informed teaching approach.

Louise is very good. I was worried she wouldn’t connect with my teen son, but she’s been great and he engages with her well. She’s very experienced, as a parent who has been through it herself, she understands. We would definitely recommend her to other families. Thanks Louise, you’re a star.
