Information about Tillie

I am currently a co-teacher in a west London primary school, with experience teaching in Key Stage One and Early Years. I am motivated by the prospect of helping children reach their full academic and personal potential. My goal is to always implement engaging and effective lessons and use my ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) training to create meaningful connections with my students.

I have a particular strength in teaching phonics and early reading. My love for English Literature confirms my belief that learning to read is the gateway to so much pleasure and enjoyment. I feel really passionately about helping children through the early stages of their reading journey and see them flourish into confident and avid readers.

I am a patient and enthusiastic teacher and I believe any child can grow and learn from tutoring that is engaging, relatable, and exciting to them. I will ensure that each session is catered to each child’s needs, interests and abilities so that they make great progress, increase their confidence and enjoy learning! :)

Experience: Having worked in KS1 for over three years I have experience in :

- Assisting the class teacher in the creation of lesson plans, instruction and assessment of students as well as general classroom support. Singlehandedly working with children on a 1:1 basis or in small groups and regular whole class teaching. Supporting and leading a variety of extra-curricular activities.
- Leading and instructing a daily Read Write Inc phonics group with children ages 4-10 at varying levels of ability. Constantly developing children’s skillsets who are from a culturally diverse, EAL or SEN background. Enabling children to make positive progress through the school curriculum as fluent, confident readers and writers.
-Teaching beneficial interventions in a variety of subjects with a focus on English and Maths. Carrying out regular interventions, allowing attainment gaps or progress to be bridged swiftly. Equipping the children with the tools they need to excel in regular classroom work.
-Delivering ELSA groups to children in Early Years through to lower KS2. Collaboratively teaching emotional development and intelligence through educational psychology led interventions. Empowering children to understand and evaluate their emotional wellbeing, as well as their peers, both in and out of school.
