Information about Bernadette
A qualified and experienced English teacher having taught KS3, 11+, GCSE and adult learner since 2012 and on-line tutoring since 2020. I tailor every lesson to the student`s needs and preferred learning style, making their lessons highly effective - helping students to achieve results whilst nurturing a passion for the subject.
Be it a single lesson or a series of lessons - development and progression of grades will occur. I always suggest additional study tasks, practical exam tips and exam styled questions with each lesson.
Topics at KS3 and GCSE: Shakespeare, poetry, prose analysis, creative writing and 19th Century literature. Punctuation, spelling, reading skills and the basics of writing English.
A traditionally published author since 2017, I also teach creative writing to adults of all abilities - from complete beginners to polishing a submission. Monthly mentoring sessions are available for aspiring writers.
Availability: I offer on-line tutoring hours during weekdays - afternoons and evening sessions.
From 26th November 2025 - I have two teaching slots available on Wednesday evenings:
Wednesday at 4pm - 5pm
Wednesday at 5:15pm - 6:15pm

Bernadette had structured lesson plans while also adapting to individual needs and requests. This helped me immensely with preparing for my English Literature and Language GCSE’s and I achieved 2 grades higher than expected.
