I am a animal lover and a strong family person who loves to socialise.

Willing to travel: 20 miles

Experience: For the last 8 years working as a teaching assistant and a teacher within a young offenders. I have worked with many vulnerable children and young people from various cultural backgrounds and supported education and welfare needs. My roles have specialised with young offenders and worked under safeguard systems and the child protection legislation. I work closely with other prison agencies to assist with family communication and also write reports for court detailing behaviour and student progress.
I am currently responsible for the teaching within the ESOL and SEN department and overseeing the initial assessments, retention, welfare and quality control of the delivery of ESOL and Functional Skills within lessons 1:1, groups, and curriculum pathways. I take an active part in delivering the curriculum to a mixed level of ESOL and SEN learners. I assist in the planning of lessons and provide resource support to other teachers to meet learner needs. I also support welfare issues via liaising with other prison staff, immigration and offender supervisor and deliver outreach education to learners unable to attend education or within vocational areas.
As well as being a lecturer within the ESOL department and providing SEN support within outreach 1:1 sessions, I work under the government initiatives and IFL guidelines so I am able to keep up to date with ESOL funding and appropriate qualifications to secure resettlement of ESOL/SEN learners into the community through employment or further education.
Through liaising with my colleagues and other prison agencies I am able to meet the requirements of my role previously set by the ESOL course director and presently set by the SEN Co-ordinator. My responsibilities also involve data collection and enrolments plus the observing and mentoring of trainee teachers. I am actively involved in adapting schemes of work to meet learner requirements and I am able to differentiate to meet the learner needs. Through identifying learner needs I am able to place students in appropriate classes and enrol them on the relevant courses this has been more evident in my recent active role of working within induction. Whilst working along students and other teachers I assist in the applications of our students to vocational courses on the completion of the ESOL course and supply outreach support on a 1:1 level to help with learner progression. On doing this I maintain contact with the Volunteer Supported Education department who specialise in the delivery of numeracy and literacy 1:1 support and I work alongside them to aid student advancement.
I am responsible alongside my colleagues for invigilating and assessing Exams within ESOL and Functional Skills and liaise with the exams officer to track student progression and future targets. I am also a teacher training mentor and have supported many of my colleagues through their teacher training from advice and proof reading of assignments through to lesson observations and feedback.
I attend and often take minutes for team meetings and I am enthusiastic to enhance my personal development through training and networking. I am an organised and enthusiastic person and I enjoy arranging events and outings as I feel that events like this create a high morale and promote a healthy working environment. I am able to work independently and as part of a team and contribute to the development of projects. I am flexible to work outside of office hours and this is evident through my work history of shift work. I understand the importance of working in a team and I am willing to support and cover staff when necessary.
Within my current working environment it is of highest importance to promote diversity and work within a framework of confidentiality, when working within a prison these values are crucial.
As an ESOL lecturer I work with a diverse group of students from all backgrounds and I feel it is necessary to celebrate these differences and work under equal opportunity guidelines at all times.
I have a lot of experience teaching and supporting SEN learners from working as a learning support assistant and a teacher. I have had in-house training to support me further in delivering lessons and adapting resources to meet the needs of SEN learners. I have also had experience of support people with learning difficulties from working as a support worker.
I would really like the opportunity to develop my career within a different setting and bring my current skills to a role in mainstream or freelance education/ 1:1 teaching with a wider range of students. I live locally and am a committed and flexible person who is able to work independently and thrives within a team.
I am CRB cleared and have an enhanced disclosure and I also hold a valid membership with the Institute for Learning
