Information about Eleanor
I am a qualified, highly motivated and dedicated specialist tutor with more than eight years of varied teaching experience across the age groups.
I qualified as a teacher in 2012 having studying a double accreditation course, from which I gained a 2:1 BA (Hons) in International Education and English Studies and TESOL, as well as a B.Ed with QTS. I am an enthusiastic and resourceful teacher with a passion for my subject of English.
Whether the tutoring is for yourself to improve your English or for your child to have some extra support with literacy, one-to-one tutoring offers a personalised approach to getting the best out of the individual learner. I believe that it is important to continuously assess the progress of my learners throughout the journey in order to help them overcome any difficulties they may have. I aim to provide my students with a tailored learning-plan and deliver it in a friendly and relaxed manner.
Availability: I am available week days and evenings.
Willing to travel: 3 miles
Experience: My most recent teaching role was teaching KS3, KS4 and KS5 English in a Secondary school where I delivered English Language and Literature. I am currently a pastoral tutor in Hereford Sixth Form College where I support A Level students with their academia and welfare.
I have a thorough understanding of several exam boards including OCR, AQA, EDEXCEL, Cambridge IGCSE and WJEC Eduqas.
I have previously tutored adults and school refusers Functional Skills and GCSE English through Worcestershire Council in the Learning in Libraries scheme in both groups and on a one-to-one basis.
I have had input on Individual Education Plans, Curriculum Frameworks and supported children with Communication, Social and Behavioural needs.
As well as my British experience, I have held different teaching positions in international schools in the UK, The Netherlands, Greece and Taiwan across all ages groups from Year 2 to adult. In order to stay up-to-date with the National Curriculum changes and reflect on my own practice since returning to the UK, I have attended professional development courses to learn about the latest education changes across the key stages in the National Curriculum. I also teach classes for both beginner and improver ESOL learners, as well as help to pass the Citizenship Test.
