I have been teaching Art and Design for 30 years developing courses and activities that get students the best results. I originally became more interested in new ways of delivering the teaching of Art and Design through problems my son was having accessing learning. I explored the possibilities of students working to their strengths and interests and I have developed an approach which really engages students in their learning and take ownership of their work.

I have an extensive knowledge of Art History - contemporary and traditional built over the years and through my work as examiner of History of Art A Level. This knowledge of artists is perfect for A Level students or Art School applicants and I have helped many students prepare their portfolio unit for HE applications. My success with students is built from understanding their strengths and their interests and from positive, supportive mentoring to help them develop their work to their full potential.

Experience: I have Fine Art Degree from Reading University and a Masters in Fine Art, Painting, from Newcastle. I have taught Art for 30 years working in a large comprehensive and a sixth form college teaching across all A Level Art and Design titles, Btec and The Foundation Studies course. A Levels taught are Fine Art, Photography, Textiles, Graphics and 3D Design.

I have a portfolio of creative tasks linked to practitioners for use in Fine Art, Photography to build the informed responses that the exam boards require. I am happy teaching at all levels from beginner to those needing extra stretch and challenge. Each year my classes reach a high % of A* grades in Fine Art and Photography.
