My 14 year old daughter, who has been home educated from birth, is keen to take GCSE Chemistry. We want to cover most of the course ourselves, but have asked for Katherine`s support once per fortnight, mostly to help with practicals and when we get stuck. So far she has done 4 sessions with us. Katherine has been very flexible, and encouraging about my daughter wanting to take charge of her own learning. She developed an instant rapport with my unusual daughter, and always seems to understand what she wants to know, even if my daughter doesn`t explain herself clearly. My daughter really looks forward to her sessions with Katherine, and finds them very stimulating and satisfying. She is delighted that Katherine seems to relish being asked challenging questions, even when they are not relevant to the syllabus. She greatly respects that Katherine never bluffs - if she doesn`t know the answer, she admits it calmly, and usually finds out. We feel we are in really good hands, and are feeling much more confident about pursuing science qualifications outside the school system, and about the final stage of home education, which has always daunted us.
