I have always loved reading and writing, but fully understand that many people don`t and have barriers to their success in these areas.

My passion for helping young people to develop their skills, confidence and hopefully their love of this subject led me to being a Head of English in a successful secondary school. During this time, I began to also work for an educational company supporting English teachers and leaders across the UK and beyond. After having my eldest child, I became self-employed working for this company, as well as several other education institutions, including continuing to examine for a leading examination board for both Language and Literature.

I now work full time as Head of Curriculum across Secondary and Post 16 for the largest educational leadership network and as I mostly work from home, I have the flexibility to take on tutees whilst remaining at the forefront of educational change.

My passion lies with helping individuals to achieve in areas they struggle and tuition is an excellent way for students to access this support one-to-one to help build their confidence and skill-set, not just for examinations but for life as well.

Experience: I have worked with young people in varying ways for the last fifteen years.

I am a qualified English and Drama teacher, from the University of Cambridge, with experience of teaching 11-18 year olds.
My last teaching post was Head of English and Media in a successful secondary school. Prior to this, I was a Key Stage 4 Co-ordinator and Lead Practitioner, overseeing a significant increase in GCSE results.

Since having my son, I chose to base myself at home and so, in addition to tutoring, I also worked for a national company, sharing resources and strategies to help boost schools` and students` success and also examined for a leading exam board for both Language and Literature.

In terms of my subject experience, I have a degree in English and American Literature and a Masters degree in the Long Eighteenth Century, thus having explored key areas and issues within the first few decades of the nineteenth century which is now a key part of GCSE Language and Literature specifications.

I qualified as an English and Drama teacher from the University of Cambridge and also have a Masters degree in Education from this university as well, with a research thesis focusing on strategies for developing students` independent critical thought towards texts.
