I am a friendly, caring and supportive English teacher who enjoys the challenge of motivating and inspiring young people to believe in themselves and achieve success. I believe in a `can do` approach and encourage my students to accelerate their progress by using a variety of teaching methods to engage them, develop their confidence and self-belief, and improve their English skills. I have worked in a variety of schools teaching KS3, GCSE and A level. I have done a lot of 1 to 1 intervention work and private tutoring with excellent results.

Experience: I have a BEd honours degree (2.1) in English and Education and I have been teaching English for over 35 years. I have taught in a variety of secondary schools and been a Head of English and |Deputy Headteacher. I have also been an external examiner marking English SATs, GCSE English Language and English Literature and A level English Literature for a number of exam boards. I currently mark Cambridge IGCSE English Literature and I am a Team Leader for OCR GCSE English Literature. I have recently tutored for the AQA and Edexcel specifications for English Language and English Literature and am familiar with the requirements of all the exam boards.
