I graduated from the University of York in 2010 obtaining a degree in Mathematics.

My approach to tutoring is tailored around each student’s individual requirements but I always begin each assignment by accessing student’s knowledge of the fundamentals first. I have been convinced by years of practise that the solid body of this knowledge acts as a foundation without which further learning cannot progress smoothly. After the gaps in fundamentals have been filled, then I create a plan of study that would either follow particular area/topic or the year’s syllabus. When working with GCSE students, I tend to focus on covering exam techniques and give plenty of past paper practise so that the students can familiarise themselves with the exam format, content and marking scheme. If the revision of certain GCSE topics is needed then I tackle these first and then move on to the past paper practise.
I am a friendly, patient and inspiring individual who is always eager to use all her knowledge and experience to help and motivate students to achieve their academic goals whatever their level or ability.

I also have noticed that some light humour makes tutorials less rigid and more relaxed. Hence, I use it to establish an informal and friendly learning environment for the students while still maintaining a degree of discipline. This is particularly helpful when working with the GCSE students who often experience higher level of stress due to many exams awaiting them.

Experience: Over 3000 face-to-face and online hours of tutoring experience gained from private teaching as well as volunteering as a tutor in London primary and secondary schools. Tutoring is not only my main occupation that earns me a living but also my greatest passion. I enjoy seeing students grow in confidence and motivation while tackling such a challenging subject as maths.
