Information about Matt

Matt is an experienced tutor, classroom teacher and career coach. He has taught english and maths in school from ages 7-13, including significant SEN experience. His distinctive competence is inspiring reluctant learners and building student confidence, themes on which he writes and blogs. Developing a rapport with students and working as a team with parents is Matt’s recipe for success. Younger children respond well to Matt’s nurturing style including his use of motivational tools and resources (which he provides), while GCSE and IB students enjoy his lively and personalised approach, making maths relevant to their individual interests. Educated at a top UK boarding school, a natural networker and a former executive search professional, he uses his insights on the selective school system and on the essentials of self-marketing to provide guidance on choice of school, their entry processes, personal statement and interview preparation. Full-time and dedicated, Matt also offers free in-school tuition through a national charity, and directly at home to qualifying parents.
Outside work Matt enjoys living in Chelsea and getting involved in the community. He is a fan of live music concerts and sports, and is a season ticket holder at Chelsea FC.
