With 25 years of experience teaching in a variety of educational establishments and situations, I have been commended throughout my career for my authoritative, knowledgeable and openly receptive approach to students under my tuition. I am a specialist in music exam prep; listening and appraising.
From an early age I have always had a passion for all kinds of music and studied piano and guitar, as well as formal music theory and history up to, and at, university in Bath. After graduating from university with a BA music degree I decided to continue my training and become a fully qualified teacher gaining Post Graduate Certificate in Education, allowing me to teach in schools as well as privately and in colleges. I gained further qualifications at postgraduate level by gaining a Post Graduate Diploma in Humanities specialising in musicology and music research. This has given me essential skills in tutoring students at university level.

Availability: As I now work increasingly from home in one-to-one, group or online situations, my availability is flexible. Equipment and facilities beyond students` personal instruments or belongings is available for use such as an upright piano, guitar amps, desk space and so on.

Experience: I have been a teacher for 25 years and have taught privately, in schools and in colleges.I have experience in teaching pupils of all ages from primary age to adult; small group, whole classroom and one-to-one situations.
I have continually been commended on my ability to engage students in their studies, whether in instrumental lessons or academic work. I have been commended by teachers, parents and students alike.
My specialist areas of tuition are instrumental piano and guitar, music theory and history, and pastoral tuition including PSHE.
