I am a qualified Biology teacher, with experience teaching Biology and Science from Nat 5 to Advanced Higher level. I trained in London, so I also have experience teaching and tutoring GCSEs and A Levels.

I find tutoring to be hugely rewarding, both to the students and myself, as it allows us to work together discovering the exact concepts and skills that could be improved. As well as improving grades, I find tutoring has a huge impact on a student’s confidence in the subject. Giving students the tools to take ownership over their learning, and have discipline and drive to work in their own time is something that is invaluable in further study.

Biology is a subject that is very conceptual, so if some of the basic principles have not been fully understood, it makes it very difficult to understand harder concepts, like enzyme activity. This means that the exam year can feel very difficult, but it also means that with some 1-on-1 help, students can progress very quickly once those fundamental ideas have been understood.

I enjoy working with all types of students, including those with additional needs. That could mean that longer sessions aren’t suitable, or that alterations need to be made so that the student feels comfortable and able to access the content. I develop a personalised plan for every student to make sure everyone has the best chance of achieving their goals. I do in person and Skype lessons, and offer lessons in bulk for a discount.
