I am an upbeat and friendly teacher with a good rapport with young people. I strongly empathise with pupils who struggle in a subject and know how unhappy this can make them. I believe that many of the obstacles that pupils face are due to a lack of confidence, often attributed to a hiatus in their learning which may have been due to absence at a critical time, or a change of school or teacher.

Parents have often reported back to me on how happy their children are with their lessons and how much they have improved and gained in confidence. What can be more gratifying?

Availability: Most evenings between 4 - 6 pm. Sometimes at weekends when requested.

Experience: I am a fully qualified and experienced teacher and was Head of the Faculty of Design and Technology in a large comprehensive school in West Sussex, where I taught for 25 years. After retirement I taught maths on the government`s one-to-one scheme for 6 years in local comprehensive schools. The success I had with working with pupils on a one-to-one basis prompted me to offer this privately to pupils struggling with their maths and especially GCSE.

I have had very good results over the past few years with many parents of pupils sending younger brothers or sisters, as well as being recommended on many occasions.
