Information about Ed

Hi, my name is Ed, a Law graduate with a passion for helping people like you! I’ve been in your position and know how intense exams can be. I want to make your education and stress levels more manageable and even enjoyable. I really enjoyed studying Law due to its importance in everyday life and how it helped me gain keen analytical skills. I loved studying Law because of how applicable it is in everyday life. It also taught me strong analytical skills due to its precise nature. Sociology, Business Studies, and Religious Studies also taught me important knowledge that I wouldn’t have learnt otherwise. I encourage anyone to try tutoring at least once, it really makes a difference learning in a one-to-one setting compared to in the classroom.

Our first session would focus on identifying your difficult areas. We will focus on the basics of these areas to form a foundation which we can then build on. I would prepare each lesson in advance with learning objectives and we would agree a study schedule together. During the lessons I would explain concepts, ask you questions, and conduct learning exercises. Such exercises would be bespoke to your learning style so that our sessions work for you.

I would ask you to provide me with information on the learning materials that you have been using. I would look at areas that may require further explanation in line with difficult areas highlighted. I`d then prepare a lesson and teach key concepts and answer any questions you have. If I couldn`t give an answer, I would have one ready for our next session.

In terms of exam practice, we would walk through an exam together and collaborate to answer it with correct knowledge and structure. Marking exam papers with feedback on how to improve and assisting with homework are also areas which I’d be more than happy to help with.

It’s natural to understand some areas more than others so I will be patient in our sessions to help grow your confidence and understanding. I will help you gain confidence and knowledge to let you approach your studies and assessments in a calmer way.

Availability: Available throughout the day - most days of the week.

Willing to travel: Home Only

Experience: I have held successful online tutoring sessions with multiple individuals on different subjects, including at University level. My Tutees have found sessions to be helpful and have given positive feedback on my teaching style and subject knowledge.

I also worked as a leader for the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme and gained experience of teaching younger people new skills in this role. This involved teaching respect and cooperation between younger people alongside promoting independence.
