With over 20,000 tutoring hours and a long career across teaching, leadership and coaching, I’ve learned one thing clearly: students don’t struggle with Maths — they struggle with how Maths is usually taught.
Many learn it like a scri pt to memorise, rather than a language to understand. My work flips that around.
I teach students the deeper structure beneath the techniques, the patterns that make problems make sense, and the mindset needed to stay calm when the pressure rises. It’s a blend of clear explanation, performance coaching and exam psychology — shaped by my MA in Coaching at Warwick University and years of helping anxious, perfectionist and high-achieving learners.
I’ve supported students from leading independent and grammar schools, and it’s always the same: once a student experiences clarity, their confidence grows. And once confidence grows, exam performance follows naturally.
Above all, I want Maths to feel engaging, varied and even enjoyable. There is real beauty and magic beneath the subject — and helping students discover that is one of the best parts of my job.

Pat has been fantastic for my son studying for his GCSE Maths. Pat quickly formed a great rapport with Jack (especially talking about Liverpool football!) However the key thing is that Pat is also a great teacher, very patient, knowledgeable, and supportive. A great find for us. Jack wants to continue with Pat even though he’s probably not going into A-level Maths - that’s how good Pat is!
