I am an enthusiastic teacher of English who is now branching out increasingly into the private tuition sector.
This allows me the flexibility to choose my hours of work and to continue to teach within my areas of expertise.
I have a First Class (Joint Hons.) degree from Keele University in English and History.
I was awarded the Keele English Prize 2005/6 for Best Performance by a Finalist. I was also joint-winner of the Wedgwood History Dissertation Prize awarded by the Keele University School of History, as well as being a nominee for the Royal Historical Society/History Today Prize for Undergraduate Dissertations in History.

My post-graduate qualification is PGCE (Secondary) English.

I have an interest in helping young people learn how to learn as this seems to be a fundamental area of skills-building that is often missing within a school and college environment. The pressure often felt by students to achieve high grades may be exacerbated by simply never having formally considered their individual approaches to learning and to the implementation of life skills in day-to-day at school/college . Therefore, I would, if requested to, factor in a manageable study skills aspect within a session with a tutee.

Availability: I am currently available between 4.30 and 6.30 pm, Monday to Friday. However, there is room for movement here as I have some flexibility in terms of hours and days worked.

Experience: I have been a teacher of A-Level English for 13 years. Having worked at both the City of Stoke-on-Trent Sixth Form College (9 years) and Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (4 years) I am both qualified and experienced in the teaching of:
