Information about Taha

I have been teaching over past 10 years for different level of students from secondory school to the university level. I have taught a range of units, from mathematics and statistics to finance, economics and management. I have a PhD in economics and have done research in applied economics.

I enjoy teaching and discussion with the students and learn from the students’ comments. I take pride in creating a lively environment in the class to encourage students to bring innovation and productivity to the groups. The student evaluation of my teaching shows that my enthusiasm has been received by the students as one of the comments includes: “Love seeing how passionate and interested Taha about their topics”.

I received high scores in the student evaluation over the years that I taught at the position of teaching fellow. All the scores that I received are above 4 out of 4 including a score of 4.79 in IM2 and 4.60 in ME. Some of the comments in the tutor evaluation form are:

- There is a good engaging environment in the tutorial sessions.
- Taha is an excellent tutor and he delivers very clearly.
- It`s very easy to understand the material by listening to Taha.
- The seminars are very interactive and the environment is very friendly.

Experience: At the beginning of my PhD studentship, I was awarded a Graduate Teaching Assistant position at the University of Leicester. In this position, I was involved in tutoring the seminars in a variety of modules like microeconomics, intermediate macroeconomics, linear algebra, mathematics for economics (first and second-year students) and managerial economics (for third-year students). I integrated the software and online supplement material into my teaching. I provide the material on an online platform (Blackboard) in which the students have access to the seminar questions with solutions, instructions and more guidance and tips to study the module.

I have also taught math at the secondary schools and helped the students to understands the concepts with simple and effective methods. I make the difficult concepts easy by using different examples and by show the applications. I`m very enthusiastic in teaching the students and I enjoy from explaining teaching materials and help them to work them out.

Also from September 2015 to September 2017, I worked as the leader of the study help scheme. The scheme was designed to support the students who could not perform well in their modules and need some extra helps from the department. The students could apply for the scheme and request for an extra session with one of the tutors specialised in that specific module/area. My role as the leader of this scheme was to design and set up an efficient process that works for the students and tutors. I was responsible to conduct a session with students to find out the support required by the student and to engage with the tutors to find the support. I supervised the tutorial sessions and the student progress until the student is satisfied with the support.
