Information about Lucas
Experienced tutor and University of Cambridge graduate in Philosophy. I have a wealth of experience tutoring Philosophy and Religious Studies in particular, but also English (including as a foreign language), French, Psychology, and university admissions I also have a very wide range of academic interests generally. My approach to tutoring is to help you to build up a framework - one that works best for you - through which to understand ideas and concepts. I have found that the best way of doing this is by first finding out where any problems lie, then helping you to construct your own network of answers to these problems by asking the right kinds of questions. This method I owe largely to Socrates, who worked out two and half thousand years ago that it worked pretty well.
Availability: Very flexible.
Willing to travel: 12 miles
Experience: Many hours of experience teaching Philosophy, Religious Studies and Ethics, mostly but not exclusively at A-Level. I am also very keen on teaching IB (International Baccalaureate) Philosophy, which I took at Higher Level and know like the back of my hand. I also have experience tutoring in university admissions, in French and in English at various levels. In the past, I have taught sports lessons to primary school classes, and have volunteered teaching English as a foreign language to trainee Buddhist monks in a monastery in Nepal.
