As a highly trained and experienced linguist, I teach French, Spanish and EFL online. I specialise in students who are learning for enjoyment, travel or to improve their career prospects, and will tailor my lessons to your needs.

I’ve a total of six years’ experience teaching students of all ages in the UK and Spain, including periods as a private tutor and a classroom teacher. I love seeing students enjoy themselves and progress. My approach is friendly, patient and encouraging, and I make my lessons as relevant and fun as possible. Carefully customising content taught, I guide students methodically, with time for both theory and practice. I also use various tools and technologies to bring subjects to life.

I’ve a First-Class MA (Hons) degree in French and Spanish from the University of St Andrews. This means I’ve studied the grammar, language, culture, history and literature of French- and Spanish-speaking countries to a high level. I also have a CertTESOL teaching qualification, giving me a solid grounding in teaching techniques.

I achieved top marks in school language exams, including Top Five Candidate Awards in GCSE French and Spanish and a Top Ten Candidate Award in Advanced Extension Award Spanish. I graduated from university with a Distinction in Spoken Spanish and the Paterson Prize for Excellence in Spanish, having achieved the top degree in my year. I was also on the Deans’ List for Academic Excellence and held a Modern Languages Scholarship.

I’ve lived and worked in both France and Spain, so have been immersed in each culture. In France, I was a waitress one summer and did admin for a music school another. I spent my university year abroad teaching English in Madrid and working as an au pair for a large Spanish family. I’ve also worked as a freelance translator for five years, so am surrounded by French, Spanish and English daily.
