Hi I`m Tom, looking to tutor students in Chemistry up to University level and Maths up to GCSE level. I recently graduated from Keele University with a masters degree in Chemistry, whilst studying I was also the president of the Chemical Sciences society for two years. Currently I work as a Process Development Chemist at a large company in Royston.

My approach to tutoring varies depending on the student`s needs and learning style. My aim is to cover the basic principles of a concept, ensuring the student knows the fundamentals before we look at example problems and talk through the best way to tackle the questions.

If a student gets stuck with a problem I like to talk through it with them to identify the problem area, then attempt to address this knowledge gap so that they don`t have the same issue in the future.

Willing to travel: 15 miles

Experience: Whilst at university I acted as a mentor for first year chemistry students, helping them with their studies, as well as their transition to university. I also mentored foreign exchange students from America and Asia, helping them adapt to life in the UK.

Over the last year I have tutored six students on a weekly basis:
- 5 chemistry A-level students covering OCR and AQA
- 1 GCSE maths AQA student

My qualifications:
2:1 Masters Degree in Chemistry from Keele University
3 B`s at A-level in Chemistry, Maths and Physics from Hills Road Sixth Form College
2 A*`s, 4 A`s and 4 B`s at GCSE including an A* in statistics, A in maths, and an A* in chemistry.
