Information about Julie

I have always been passionate about maths and enjoy helping other people understand maths and find the same enjoyment in the subject as I do. After gaining a maths degree I went on to work in industry for a number of years as a business analyst where I used my maths skills on a daily basis. I then changed career and trained as a maths teacher. My working background has helped me demonstrate to students the value of maths in the `real world` and answers their question `when would I ever need this`

I have been teaching in a secondary school for 6 years, I teach key stage 3, key stage 4 and A level. I have experience of teaching higher and foundation GCSE and have also provided 11+ tuition. I am currently an A level examiner for Edexcel.

Every student is different and every student will need a different approach to help them understand different topics in maths. However, if students enjoy maths, see a purpose for it and at the very least don`t fear it, their success at maths is much more likely. My approach to teaching therefore is to work with students to help them conquer any fears they may have and find ways to help them understand and remember any techniques they need to use.

Experience: 4 years working in a secondary school teaching KS3 KS4 and A level.
