Information about Ghulam
For over 30 years, I have taught Law from GCSE up to the University of London External Law Degree Programme. I enjoy the legal environment and inspire students to become future professionals. After teaching several generations of students, it is immensely rewarding to see their development as solicitors, barristers and paralegals.

Experience: For over 30 years, I have taught Law from GCSE up to the University of London External Law Degree Programme. The student is at the epicentre of my lessons. A-Level law can seem daunting, especially with topics like Contract, so I ensure that concepts are explained clearly and encourage critical reading. I believe that using real-life examples, paired with past papers, enhances understanding, analysis and evaluation. When a topic is introduced, I outline the key legal principles, cases and exam requirements. Visual aids, such as flowcharts and tables, are used in my PowerPoints to aid learners in connecting ideas together. Leading by discussion, I encourage students to explain concepts back to me and apply case law and statute in their verbal answers, which in turn, familiarises them with the requirement in their subsequent written responses. The use of scenario questions also enables learners to develop their application, as well as builds analytical skills and exam technique. Furthermore, we will explore past papers together, discuss mark schemes and examiners reports to gain a greater understanding of the expectations from the relevant exam board. We will work on essay writing and structure, which will lead up to essays and past papers to be completed in timed conditions. Unpicking model answers will also allow students to see how the maximum amount of marks can be gained, as well as seeing how their own technique can be refined. I will provide constructive, verbal and written feedback where appropriate, highlighting strengths and improvements, which will aid us in setting achievable goals for our future sessions.
