Information about Andromachi
I was born and raised in Greece and have built a multidisciplinary career as a Qualified Teacher of Music and Humanities (QTS Primary and Secondary Education), Composer, Music Theory Tutor, Professional Mezzo-Soprano, Voice Teacher, Piano Tutor, and Greek language Educator. My work is rooted in a deep commitment to artistic excellence and in the belief that music education can inspire, empower, and transform.
My musical studies focused on Diplomas (equivalent to FRSM Level, ABRSM) in Composition, Fugue, Counterpoint, and Harmony, Vocal Studies, as well as Piano (Certificate equivalent to LRSM Level, ABRSM), all completed with Distinction. I hold a Bachelors degree in European Civilization (Humanities) and a Masters degree in Music Composition (Instrumental & Vocal) from the University of Manchester. In addition to Greek (my native language) and English, I have studied German and Italian, which has enriched my work as a performer and educator.
As a Composer, my works for string orchestra, chamber ensembles, mixed a cappella choirs, and soloists have been performed in concert halls across Europe and the USA. As a Mezzo-soprano and Choral Conductor, I have performed operatic roles, oratorios, lieder, contemporary works, musicals, jazz repertoire, and a wide range of classical and modern genres.

Experience: Teaching Experience
With thirty years of teaching experience in Primary and Secondary education in the UK and Greece, giving me a broad understanding of diverse educational systems and musical traditions, I have taught Music Theory (music history, analysis, harmony, harmonization, ear training, solfege, counterpoint, fugue, instrumentation, orchestration), Composition, as well as Vocal Studies, Piano, and GCSE, ABRSM/Trinity preparation (Grades 18) in schools, conservatories and further education, and have also conducted and accompanied choirs and ensembles. All my students have achieved a 100% pass rate in examinations (Music Theory, Singing, and Piano), with the majority attaining high marks.
As a Modern Greek language tutor, I have delivered lessons in Greek schools in both Greece and Oxford, teaching learners from beginner level through to A Level. My teaching experience encompasses working with students aged 418 and adults, consistently adapting my methods to meet diverse learning styles, abilities, and cultural contexts.
Approach to Music Tuition
I view the educational process as a partnership between teacher, student and student`s family. I design tailor made lessons that integrate theory, practice, and carefully chosen musical examples. Each lesson is adapted to the students abilities, interests, and pace of learning. I encourage students to explore their own artistic voice, to think critically, and to engage deeply with the repertoire they study.
In Music Theory and Composition, I guide students from fundamental notation to advanced concepts such as harmony, counterpoint, fugue, analysis, instrumentation, and orchestration. Students learn to compose in different genres, experiment with musical ideas, and develop their own compositional style.
In Vocal Studies, I focus on circular breathing, body alignment, facial expression, ear training, pitch accuracy, and expressive communication. Singing supports emotional, physical, and psychological wellbeing, helping individuals express themselves, and build confidence. Technique is essential, but so is the ability to communicate feelings, tell stories, and bring music to life.
In Piano Studies, I combine technical training with stylistic awareness and emotional expression. Students learn the Alexander Technique principles, finger technique, posture, breathing, and interpretive skills needed for confident performance.
Approach to Greek Tuition
Greek is a rich and historic language, deeply connected to culture, meaning, and expression. In my teaching, I go beyond word for word translation, integrating elements of Greek civilization and drawing on my BA (Hons) in European Civilization. My experience in Greek and English schools in both countries, has equipped me with strong pedagogical skills and full fluency in both languages. I design structured, engaging, and personalised lessons that support learners goalswhether for pleasure, business, GCSE, or A Level. Every student deserves the best support!
