Rachel

I am a graduate of the University of Reading with French and Italian language and communication skills, gained through my degree and year abroad study placements in Montpellier, France and Siena, Italy. I am also a speaker of Spanish after living and teaching English in Spain for 4 years.

As a passionate linguist, I can empathise with language learners through my own experience. During my Erasmus year and time spent living in Spain, I enhanced my language skills through university classes and explored new cultures. I can therefore use this experience to benefit students through well-planned, engaging activities and adopting a supportive environment.

Aside from teaching or tutoring I enjoy music, films and baking. I also have experience as an Activity Leader at an English Language summer school with children aged up to eighteen. This experience involved leading and supervising sports activities and encouraging the use of English at all times, which was very enjoyable.

Availability: I am currently available term time Monday - Friday 9.00 - 18.30/19.00.

Experience: I am a qualified teacher of English as a foreign language with six years of experience teaching a variety of ages ranging from young children (4+) to adults at different levels in language schools in Spain. From beginners to advanced levels, this has been a highly enjoyable and rewarding experience. I have also tutored students during this time and prepared many for upcoming Cambridge or Trinity English language exams, with a 100% pass rate. In addition to this, I have been tutoring foreign language (Spanish, French and Italian) students online and have tutored both adults and children aiding with school work and exams as well as offering beginner language courses.

Having taught students of many ages and abilities, I believe that my teaching style is adaptable to meet the needs of all students. I am an enthusiastic, passionate individual and therefore the lessons that I give are tailored to suit individual students and both dynamic and engaging, using a variety of stimulating as well as fun activities to help all students succeed in achieving their goals.

With younger students I have focused on creating a passion for the subject as well as for learning in general, while with older students I have aimed at improving revision and exam strategies alongside their language skills in order to become more independent learners and be successful.
