Information about Patrick
My name is Paddy. I have a real passion for history, for teaching and for tutoring. I am a consistently outstanding Head of History with over a decade of experience in thriving schools. As a former A Level examiner I know exactly what exam boards are looking for and thus have an excellent track record of significantly improving attainment through tutoring. As a researcher, writer and podcaster I have a deep knowledge of the subject which I can apply to a vast range of Key Stage 5 topics.
Availability: I am available some weekday evenings and on Sunday evenings as well.

Experience: For seven years I worked as the Head of History in one of England`s only History-specialist academies in Westminster. During this time I achieved outstanding GCSE and A Levels results as both a classroom teacher and a head of department.
For the past six years I have been the Head of History in a leading Canterbury independent prep school. During this time I have served as a governor in setting up a new secondary school in south Kent. Additionally I serve as a trustee of a school in West Kent. I am also currently on the committee of the Canterbury branch of the Historical Association.

I cannot recommend Patrick enough! He makes every session a joy and gives amazing feedback on every essay and source question I have showed him. His feedback targets meeting exam criteria for level five, ensuring every sentence of the essay is of a high standard. He has a wealth of knowledge, able to give suggestions and refer to a multitude of books he has on a topic to find exactly the type of statistic or information that works with your work.

Patrick was a perfect tutor for our son. He was punctual, courteous, efficient. More than anything, he understood how to frame answers to key questions and knew just what the examiners were looking for. He got on famously with our son and they worked in partnership to improve his techniques. Highly recommended.

Patrick is an outstanding tutor and we are enthusiastically recommending him to friends. He couldn’t be better. My daughter is a history geek and a high achiever who’s already achieved two A*s at age 16, but Patrick was able to stretch and inspire her in discussion of the topic, as well as providing excellent, well-informed and clear guidance on exam technique, which was exactly what she needed. He is also organised but very flexible and fair in arranging classes and payment. My daughter has had various tutors for different subjects as she’s home educated, and Patrick was the most helpful of all of them. He’s smart and enthusiastic and charming, but gets down to business. 100% positive experience.
