Nicholas

Hi, I`m Nicholas, I tutor chemistry, science and earth sciences in London. I have a PhD in inorganic chemistry from the University of Manchester (I studied the interaction of nuclear waste with bacteria!). I also have a first class BSc in earth science from the University of Edinburgh, where I finished top of my class.
People find me enthusiastic and engaging, and I pride myself on good listening skills. I am interested in sports and arts, and spend my spare time painting, acting and playing football (and fantasy football!). I find the sciences fascinating and as your tutor, I would intend to share that intrigue.

Availability: I am available in the early mornings, afternoons and evenings. I can also do weekend sessions.

Experience: I have teaching experience at every level from primary school to university. This has included running science workshops in primary and secondary schools. I have four years of experience teaching 1st-year degree courses in chemistry - as well as a wealth of experience mentoring and tutoring masters students who have gone onto PhD programs themselves. Further, I have experience of working with students who have learning difficulties such as dyslexia.
My aim is always to find out how the student works best and capitalise on their strengths. Usually, this involves metaphors, mind maps, and quizzes! I keep an open mind to my teaching style tailoring it for each student. I am a very hard worker and driven to get the best out of my students, I believe that hard work and enthusiasm are infectious.
