Hi! My name is Jo and I am a graduate from Oxford Brookes University, having acquired a 2.1 in Sports Coaching and Physical Education.
Availability: I can provide help with exam techniques and revision strategies or more general, long term, tutoring following the school curriculum. At A-level and GCSE especially, it is important to know what the examiners are looking for and how best to answer the questions - this is something I can assist with to help you reach your full potential. One of my recent biggest achievements is mentoring 10 students who are on the Autistic spectrum and seeing 8 of them achieve a grade C, these students took on board my points and opinions and went with them to reach there full potential.
My greatest strength is my ability to explain concepts so that my students understand.

I am free most evenings and am flexible with the weekend depending on engagements. I also work term time only.

Jo has been great at supporting both our children after a year out of school on a family adventure. She has revised previously material and introduced them to new concepts. Both kids have really enjoyed the sessions.

We are in a really tricky spot right now, stuck in the UK with no date as to when we can return home to America. I hired Jo to tutor my 10 year old ADHD son English. Toby HATES english . Well not anymore! Jo is amazing, I really mean that. She understands him, she champions him, she pushes past what he thinks he is capable of. Thank you Jo, for everything you are doing for Toby, you have made a really difficult situation that much easier.

Jo taught my daughter in preparation for an 11+ entrance exam. We are extremely pleased with the support Jo provided. Jo was always prepared and was able to connect and work with my daughter to improve her English. My daughter was reluctant to write stories, and to put her ideas on paper. But, Jo has given my daughter the confidence to write really amazing stories whilst including key grammar and language points which will be evaluated positively in the exam. Thank you Jo.
Tutors Response :

Absolutely spot on with my teenager. Jo completely understands what is required from the syllabus and within each question type. She has identified quickly areas that need strengthening and has converted my teen`s attitude towards the English exam from reluctance to confidence.

I found Jo about 3 months before my daughter`s GCSE English exams, we needed someone who could help build her confidence, and coach her in specific techniques to pass her exam. Not only did Jo fill my daughter with a confidence in her own ability, she diagnosed a learning difficulty that the school had missed.
Jo was fantastic, so supportive, she spent time explaining the concepts in a way that my daughter could understand, helped her with spelling, grammar and specific techniques for the different question types in the exam.
Whilst we don`t have the results yet, I cannot thank Jo enough for her enthusiasm and belief in my daughter. I can`t recommend her highly enough!
