I recently took early retirement from a long career teaching English Literature and Language to a wide range of pupils at a well known independent school. I have always enjoyed passing on my love of the subject to students and I am keen to carry on doing so. My preference would probably to teach A Level Literature and In have an extensive knowledge of teaching many exam boards. I love a variety of texts and, while working, I studied for and achieved, an MA in Literature with the Open University.
I can also teach GCSE Language and Literature as I have always enjoyed teaching Years 10 and 11. I can also help pupils to prepare for entrance examinations, having been in charge of scholarship exams and CE at my last school.
I am a relaxed and well informed teacher and I recently featured as an "inspiring teacher" in an article of the TES magazine (10 March of this year).
I enjoy all sports, especially golf, tennis and football and I also love travelling.
Availability: I am pretty much available at any time, depending on the convenience and preference of the students.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: I have taught English for 30 years. I was the Oxbridge mentor at school and have taught many different exam boards for A Level Literature and GCSE Language and Literature. I was in charge of Year 9, coordinating the curriculum and managing a sizeable team of teachers. I set all the entrance exams and was responsible for the CE marking process.
My school is well known for its sporting successes and while there I thoroughly enjoyed coaching many football teams and coaching tennis and badminton.
