Information about Zarius
I`m a current final year medical student at Imperial College London and have accumulated 4 years worth of experience in tutoring. Having just finished my 5th year, it has confirmed my passion for teaching as I have had the pleasure of tutoring younger years at University which motivated me to start helping others those wishing to do well in their exams (GCSE`s, SAT`s) in order for them to pursue and fulfil their goals.
I deliver lectures to younger years at my medical school and give tutorials in smaller groups. Through this, I have developed my tutoring technique through years of feedback to ensure I deliver excellent teaching towards the needs of my tutee.
-Achieved the highest grades achievable at A-level (three A*`s in Biology, Maths and Chemistry, A in AS-level Physics).
-Achieved 7A*`s and 4 A`s at GCSE, with all sciences and maths subjects achieved A*.
During my pre-clinical years at University, I have achieved distinctions (awarded to those in the top 20% of the year group). I have also been awarded a first class degree in Cardiovascular Sciences at Imperial College London.
On top of my studies, I have been on the committee of the badminton and surgical societies. In these roles, I`ve had the opportunity to be captain of the badminton team (previously represented my county), as well as work in a team to run workshops for the surgical society.
Availability: Free weekday evenings and on the weekend
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: Within academia, I have given lectures to younger students at my University. I attended a teaching skills training event day at my University which gave me the opportunity to practice teaching my peers, as well as learning the most efficient and successful ways to teach others. I also give talks and presentations to students who are passionate about studying medicine at University.
At University, I`m committed to helping my peers in younger years to achieve their potential. I have been a Medical Education tutor and mock examination examiner to younger years. Through this I have taught younger medical students how to take a history, examine and offer diagnoses, as well as give them feedback on how to improve these aspects.
I have been in the shoes of those studying for their school/college exams not so long ago, so I will know what the examinations are like and how to prepare best for them.
-Contributed work to a website named: [contact detail removed] which is dedicated to support medical students through their clinical studies at University by giving guides on how to ace examined medical stations.
-Volunteered at the Tim Lamb Centre which is a safe place for children with disabilities and special needs. Here I engaged and socialised with the children, organising activities and games throughout the day. This improved my ability to organise and socialise with a variety of different children.
