I`m an engineer working in space industry at a large company in Chelmsford. I`ve worked on missions for the European Space Agency as well as on products for the European Southern Observatory.

My tutoring starts with a clear understanding of what the student wants to achieve from our work and in their academic life in general. I take a modern approach emphasising a good understanding of the basic principles in Physics and deliberate, spaced practice in Mathematics.

I work to build the student`s confidence by introducing topics slowly and helping the student prove to themselves that, with practice, they can master a topic. The ultimate aim is that the student develops their learning skills far enough that they can learn independently; this is a key skill required for success at University. I take enormous amount of satisfaction from seeing some who once struggled work confidently as a result of my help.

Where necessary I can help students to tackle common pitfulls such as imposter thoughts and procrastination. An important part of a tutors job is to remove the obstacles that prevent a student from realising their potential.

Availability: I`m available all day Monday as well as Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings. I`m also available all week via email.

Experience: I have a B.Sc (Hons) in Physics from the University of Bristol and an M.Sc. (Hons) in Theoretical Particle Physics from the University of Sussex. I spent 2 years after leaving University helping local students through their A Levels.

My work as an engineer involves practical uses of higher level mathematics as well as systems engineering, programming and data analysis. My 7 years of experience means I`m well placed to explain principles by referencing practical real-world examples. In addition I also mentor new starter engineers; training them on various aspects of the job.
