Information about Samantha
With my experience of tutoring children with dyslexia, I try to make all learning interactive and multisensory. This means that I try to include opportunities to not only read and write in my lessons, but also to talk, move, listen to songs, watch videos and make things. I enjoy using games to teach and think it is important to make the learning as relevant to the student`s interests as possible. My aim is to help every student I work with to believe in themselves and achieve everything they are capable of.
I grew up in England, but am currently living in Germany, having moved there in August 2016.
Availability: Weekday afternoons and evenings. Please contact me for details.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: I am a qualified Primary School teacher, have a Postgraduate Certificate in Assessment Theory for Dyslexia and Literacy with Dyslexia Action and am currently studying for my Approved Teacher Status to work as a specialist tutor for children with learning difficulties. I find teaching in 1:1 sessions extremely rewarding, as it allows me to really get the best out of each individual learner and to tailor my teaching much more specifically to their personal needs. I have worked in mainstream primary schools for four years as a classroom teacher. During the summer, I also tutor at a Summer School for children with learning difficulties, such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, ASD and ADHD, providing 1:1 and 1:2 lessons in English and maths. I am currently working as a private tutor for children in Germany and also via Skype to children in the UK.
