I am an experienced Economics teacher and former Head of Economics at Winchester College, where I led a high-performing department to consistently exceptional results with one of the highest Value Added scores across all subjects. With an MSc in Behavioural & Economic Science (Distinction) from Warwick, an MA in Economics (First Class Honours) from Aberdeen, and experience as an examiner for both AQA and Edexcel, I bring deep subject expertise and insider knowledge of mark schemes and what examiners are looking for in top-grade responses.

Experience: I`ve taught Economics for over eight years across grammar schools, state sixth forms, and leading independent schools. At Winchester College, my department consistently achieved one of the highest Value Added scores in the Sixth Form - results I`m particularly proud of given Economics students often started with below-average baseline scores. I`ve worked with students across the full ability range: some needing to build basic understanding and confidence, others aiming for Oxbridge. For the latter, I developed an intensive preparation programme - five rounds of mock interviews, admissions test training, and regular one-to-ones discussing their wider reading - which increased Oxbridge offers from around one or two a year to four.

As an examiner for both AQA and Edexcel, I mark actual A-Level papers, which means I know exactly what gets marks and what doesn`t. I use this constantly in tutoring - helping students understand not just the Economics, but how to write answers that examiners reward. I`ve also created teaching resources including a full A-Level textbook and established enrichment programmes in Econometrics and Behavioural Economics for students wanting to go beyond the syllabus.
